Presales Engineer

Job Purpose

The Presales Engineer is responsible for supporting the sales team by understanding customer requirements, designing suitable technology solutions, preparing technical proposals, conducting product demonstrations, and coordinating with vendors and distributors to ensure successful solution positioning and deal closure.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Engagement

• Meet customers to understand business and technical requirements.
• Conduct requirement gathering workshops and site surveys.
• Provide technical consultation and solution recommendations.
• Participate in customer presentations, meetings, and proof-of-concept (POC) activities.

Solution Design

• Design solutions covering Networking, Security, Data Center, Cloud, Backup, and Collaboration technologies.
• Prepare High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD) documents.
• Develop solution architectures aligned with customer requirements and best practices.
• Validate technical compliance against RFPs, RFQs, and tender requirements.

Proposal & BOQ Preparation

• Prepare technical proposals, scope of work, and bill of quantities (BOQ).
• Review customer requirements and ensure accurate solution sizing.
• Prepare compliance documents and technical response sheets.
• Coordinate with vendors and distributors for solution validation.

Vendor & Distributor Coordination

• Engage with OEMs and distributors for pricing, deal registration, and special discounts.
• Coordinate product demonstrations and technical workshops.
• Stay updated with vendor roadmaps, licensing changes, and product updates.

Proof of Concept (POC)

• Plan and execute product demonstrations and POCs.
• Document findings and present outcomes to customers.
• Assist customers during evaluation and testing phases.

Sales Support

• Support account managers during customer engagements.
• Participate in technical discussions, bid submissions, and commercial negotiations.
• Assist in closing opportunities by addressing technical concerns and objections.

Knowledge & Certification

• Maintain technical certifications aligned with company focus technologies.
• Continuously update knowledge on emerging technologies and industry trends.
• Conduct internal knowledge-sharing sessions and technical training.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology.
• 4-8 years of presales or implementation experience in a System Integrator environment.
• Strong presentation, communication, and documentation skills.
• Relevant OEM certifications are preferred.
